BEST CAMP EVER and other stuff!
BEST CAMP EVER!
Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays and enjoyed their time off over the Easter Break.
Term 2 is commencing next week and we have a lot of exciting things happening, including some new changes to get excited about.
But firstly I wanted to report on our Camp that was held last week.
Students reported it was the best camp ever!
We had a whopping 54 students attending, including our friends from Blue Mountains Taekwondo and The Phoenix Way Taekwondo, we had Parents attend and do some of the workshops as well. Master Chris Kubisch flew all the way from Melbourne to attend the Sunday so thank you to him for attending. We also have to thank Master Adam Hopper for his excellent training plans, as well as David Taylor, Adam Coorey, Patrick and Adrian Wallace and Chris and Kerry Barton for their inspiring and fun workshops. A big thank you also to all the parents and students who assisted with bringing across and taking back the heaps of equipment we required. Lastly thank you to Michael Smith for bringing and managing the Daedo system for the sparring sessions.
We did things like, advanced flexibility, Poomsae, sparring, reaction drills and games, kick strengthening, self defence, Capoiera and watched an inspiring video on perseverance by the only Jordanean ever to win an Olympic Gold Medal, his sport? Taekwondo! Students were putting in 110% in the sparring session that followed that inspiring video (shout out to Alexander Lee).
Students were very educated and inspired, we feel these camps are a great way to reinforce students love of taekwondo and just a brilliant way to socialise and make friends.
I have included a few photos here that captured the events and hopefully highlight what a wonderful 2 days it was. I am so looking forward to next year.
See below for Grading details, a new initiative for Ninjas and Term Fee Instructions and Early Bird Redemption Code.
New Ninjas Yellow Belt Test
New for this term is a new concept. We are thinking of introducing a final test for those ninjas thinking of moving up to Dragons.
As you may know, our ninjas do a more game oriented class, where they are learning the skills they need to progress in Taekwondo whilst maximising their fun and sense of achievement. But I feel we are missing something in terms of promoting these students to the next Level.
Introducing the Yellow Belt Test for Ninjas. This test is to get them through our white belt syllabus, ideally using their time at ninjas to learn their white belt form, learn the basic self defences as well as their kicks, blocks and sparring. We intend to run 2 of these tests per year, 1 at the end of Term 2 and another the end of Term 4.This will be targeted to students on their 4th Black Stripe or turning the age of 8, as we still feel there needs to be a level of maturity before progressing to Dragons.
At the end of the test, they will achieve their yellow belt and move straight into the Dragons Class as a yellow belt. They will also receive their pads (for sparring) and the Dragons T-Shirt as well.
We aim to do the first of these at the end of this term, so look out for more announcements and let us know if you think this is a good idea.
